Intelligent, witty, sensitive, and pretty, with a strong and imaginative spirit. Raised as only child with privilege in a British colony in Africa, Sara at first finds herself out of place with the people and customs of the boarding school she is is sent to in London.
This actress should be equally strong at singing, dancing, and acting. Must be able to handle both comedy and drama.

Sara's father. He is a high-ranking British army officer serving in Africa. He adores his daughter and would do anything to keep her safe.
This actor should have a strong physical presence and be believable as an army officer, but he should also be able to show the Captain's vulnerable side.

Miss Minchin's meek younger sister. She is the gentle giant of this story. While not especially bright, she has a good heart and tries to please everyone, even if they aren't nice to her. She is a very funny character, but at the end of the show, she shocks everyone by standing up to Minchin, discovering an intelligence and strength of character she did not know she possessed.

A servant in Miss Minchin's boarding school. Timid and shy, but once she opens up she has a really warm personality. She becomes Sara's best friend. The audience should fall in love with this character.
This actress should be able to portray the shy, beaten-down side of Becky, but also be able to light up and blossom through her friendship with Sara.

The first of the girls to befriend Sara besides Becky. She is very, very honest and very much a follower. She always blurts out exactly what is on her mind. She isn't used to thinking for herself. Sweet, simple, and very sensitive. Used to be the one picked on until Becky arrived. Character Age: 8-15…English Accent
Lottie is the youngest of the schoolgirls. She's a lot like Agnes from Despicable Me. Lovable and funny.
